App design

For this project, I designed an app aimed at improving the experience of garage sales and buying/selling platforms. The goal was to create a more efficient way for buyers and sellers to connect, focusing on user-friendly features that would help both parties find what they’re looking for quickly. The app was designed with advanced filtering options and interest-based matching, allowing buyers to easily search for items they need while helping sellers target the right audience for their products. By incorporating intuitive design elements, such as category filters, search functionalities, and location-based suggestions, the app streamlined the process, making it easier for buyers and sellers to discover relevant listings. The result was a seamless, more personalized experience for users, designed to foster quicker, more meaningful connections in the world of garage sales and second-hand transactions.

When designing for desktop and mobile, there are key differences that need to be addressed to ensure a smooth, responsive experience across all devices. On desktop, there’s more screen real estate, allowing for a more expansive layout and the ability to display more information at once. This enables the use of more detailed navigation menus and additional features without overwhelming the user. In contrast, mobile design requires a more compact, simplified layout, with an emphasis on ease of use and touch-friendly interactions. Features like larger buttons, simplified navigation, and collapsible menus are critical for mobile, as space is limited.

Responsive design plays a crucial role in bridging these two formats. It ensures that the app adjusts seamlessly to different screen sizes, maintaining functionality and usability. This means elements like text size, images, and buttons resize and reorganize to optimize the user experience, whether on a large desktop monitor or a small mobile screen. The goal is to create a consistent and intuitive experience across devices, so users can easily interact with the app regardless of whether they’re on a laptop, tablet, or phone.
